Marriage licenses are issued during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm. The County Clerk’s Office is located in Room 108 on the first floor of the County-City Building, 555 S. 10th Street (corner of 10th & “K” Streets), Lincoln, NE. You do not need to make an appointment if you visit our office during normal business hours.
The fee for a marriage license is $15 and it can only be used for ceremonies performed within the State of Nebraska. Applicants may also prepay for a certified copy for an additional $5. A certified copy is required for name changes and other legal purposes. Payment can be made by cash, check or debit/credit card.
Effective August 30, 2015, the fee for a Nebraska marriage license will be $25. Certified copies will be $9.00 each.
Parking is available in the public lot (accessible via 10th Street or “K” Street) located across the street north of the County-City Building. Be sure to obtain a parking pass at the Clerk’s Office which will allow you to exit the public lot for free.
The Clerk’s Office also issues marriage licenses by appointment only on the first Thursday of the month between 4:30-5:45pm.
